It is intended to carry out the work by contract,
the estimated period required for construction being from
five to six years.

It is apprehended by the local authorities,that
shoaling to any serious extent will not occur within the
enclosed area, that opinion having apparently been based
on the fact, that the water on the site of the works is
clear and free from matter in suspension. No current
observations are available which are sufficient to enable
us to consider this aspect of the case as applicable to
the enclosed area generally, but we may observe that some
shoaling may certainly be anticipated along the line of the
frontage of the Harbour, seaward of the allotments, due to
detritus brought down by heavy rains through the sewers,
as was the case in front of the old Praya, and which
action we believe is now going on in front of the more
recent work there.
